Group Email Widget
Overview: It is possible to bulk send emails to your customers with the Dashmanager Group Email widget.
The Group Email widget allows you to select a group of subscribers and send them all an email at one time. It is useful if you need to inform your subscribers about a network event that will affect the services you provide to them.
Warning: The group email widget uses the Sendgrid SMTP service to deliver bulk emails. In order to ensure that your emails are accepted by the receiving party's ISP and email server, follow the directions at the end of this article.
The Group Email widget will automatically detect the email addresses that are configured in your Users' Dasmanager or PBX profiles. It is not necessary for you to enter email addresses manually.
Sender's Email Address
The From email address used to send group emails can be the email address of any Company Manager. However, only the Company Admin is able to send as other users while a Company Manager can only send from their own email address.
It is possible to select the following receipient Groups to send to:
- All Dashmanager Users
- All PBX Users in all domains
- All PBX Users in a single domain
- You can select Users in a single Department within a specified domain
- You can select Users with a single Role (eg. Basic User, Call Center Agent, Office Manager, etc.) within a specified domain
- You can select a single User within a specified domain
The image below shows how to select all PBX users in all domains.
The image below shows how to select a single domain.
Note: If there are missing or old domains still in the drop-down list you can refresh this by going to your user profile and clicking on the Clear Cache button under the User Cache tab.
Once a single domain is selected, it is possible to choose a User, or a sub-group of Users, from within that domain.
The image below shows how to select a single user from within a domain.
How to ensure that your emails will be delivered
The group email widget uses the Sendgrid SMTP service to deliver bulk emails. In order to ensure that your emails are accepted by the receiving party's ISP and email server, follow these directions.
Using SkySwitch-owned Sendgrid Account
If you wish to use Group Email widget with the SkySwitch-owned Sendgrid account, we will have to configure your email domain with Sendgrid, and you will have to create DNS records that will allow the Sendgrid IP addresses to send emails on your behalf.
We will provide you with the necessary records after you submit this form. The records you are given will be MX, DKIM, and SPF records to enter at your registrar, hosting company, or DNS manager. This will mean that your SPF record will include the SendGrid IP addresses that have been assigned to SkySwitch.
After you submit the form, a ticket will be created with the SkySwitch Control Tower and the support team will guide you through the rest of the process.
Using Your Own Sendgrid Account
By default, the Group Email widget uses a SkySwitch-owned account to send bulk emails. Alternatively, you can use your own Sendgrid account by entering the Sendgrid API key into the dashboard API page.
This option may be preferable if you wish to access the Sendgrid reports and statistics (as these will not be available to you if you use the SkySwitch-owned Sendgrid account).
If you choose this option, then you will be responsible for following the Sendgrid procedures to ensure email delivery.
To configure the Group Email widget to use your own Sendgrid account follow these steps:
1. Browse to the Reseller Settings page.
2. Paste the Sendgrid API key into the appropriate field, then click Save.
Your Sendgrid API key will be provided to you by Sendgrid as part of your account (see this article for more information).
