Grandstream Redirect to NDP
- Last updated on January 17, 2025 at 7:16 PM
This article covers the GDMS configuration to redirect the Grandstream Endpoints to the Skyswitch NDP. However, with GDMS, an endpoint can be redirected to NDP to get provisioned while being managed and troubleshot from GDMS.
You can achieve the redirect by using a configuration template. Depending on the need, you can leverage a Model Template, a Group (family) template, or a single MAC cfg (config) file.
In our example below, we will use a Group Template for the GRP family.
To get started:
- Provision the phone from your SkySwitch PBX so it has a configuration file ready on NDP.
- Log in to your GDMS Account and add a GXP Phone as described in the general article (Device > Add a Device).
- Go to Templates > By Group and add A New Template.
- Click 'next' and select the site and the phones that you want this config to be applied for.
- Next, be sure to Save, and then you will be presented with all the parameters you can change for these phones. Make sure you don’t create a conflict with the parameters in the NDP Config File.
- Unfortunately, the config server path parameter is not present amongst the settings on this screen, so we need to add them as P values by clicking first on: Switch to Text Editor Mode (Upper Right Corner)
- Once selected, add the below two parameters:
P212=1 P237=sipcfg.io/cfg
- Finally, Save the changes and push configuration when prompted with “Saved successfully! Push configuration to device”. This action can be done immediately or tied to a schedule.
The setup described above allows you to redirect the phone, allow provisioning from the NDP, and take advantage of advanced features like button builder while also benefiting from the monitoring, troubleshooting, and task scheduling features of GDMS.
